Tellscreen

Tellscreen vs Screenity (October 2026)

Screenity is a free, open-source Chrome extension (GPL-3.0) that records your screen and camera to your own computer with no limits. Sharing a link needs Screenity Pro, $10 a month, which also adds an editor and English captions and caps recordings at 1 hour. Tellscreen records in the web page, and every recording becomes a free link with a transcript, AI summary and chapters.

Tellscreen is ours. Screenity's facts come from screenity.io and its GitHub repository, checked on 14 October 2026.

Where Screenity is the better choice

  • The video never needs to leave your machine. The extension saves files locally and works with no account. Self-hosted, it runs entirely in local-only mode.
  • You want an editor with zooms and layouts. Screenity Pro has scenes, auto-zoom, layouts and overlays.
  • Your data must stay in the EU. Screenity says Pro videos, renders and transcripts stay on European servers.

Where Tellscreen is the better choice

  • The link is the point. On Tellscreen the link is on your clipboard the moment you stop, free. On Screenity a link needs Pro.
  • Longer recordings. Tellscreen records up to 4 hours; Screenity Pro caps each recording at 1 hour.
  • Summaries and chapters. Tellscreen writes them for every video, and each key point links to the moment it was said.
  • People can reply on the video. Timestamped comments, emoji reactions and a list of who watched how far.
  • AI agents can read the link. See how to let an AI watch a screen recording.
